Meet me by the willow tree ~ poetry

Meet me by the willow tree
Hold my hand and let's be free
I don't know what the future brings
But I need you, not fancy things

Kiss my lips with your eyes closed
While I stand on tippy toes
Hold me close, don't let me go
Cause I need you, I love you so

Meet me by the willow tree
Hold my hand and let's be free
I don't know what the future holds
I need you, not some fancy clothes

Dancing under pale moonlight
Staying close, you hold me tight
I cry because I'll miss you, my dear
You kiss my lips and wipe my tears

So, meet me by the willow tree
Hold my hand and let's be free
Though not together, we're not apart
Cause babe, I carry you in my heart.

Crimson Revenge... Payback in Blood. Part 3

Ravvyn was growing tired as she walked through the Whispering Woods.  She couldn't afford to make a mistake now. Even though the orange light led her to her destination and safety, the light had also garnered a lot of unwanted attention.  At the edge of the light, following her in the shadows, was a horde of hungry creatures.  She could hear them growling, slavering and scratching as they followed along behind her.
Nervousness returned and she decided to hold her axes ready as she walked.  Her eyes darted from side to side and she glanced behind her every now and then catching glimpses of glowing eyes.  She wished she had wings to fly out of here.

____________________________________________________

The stormcrow perched upon a bough that was low and visible. It's lustrous eyes glowing like the moon in the darkness.  Small crackles of lightning ran through the stormcrow's feathers, lighting the darkness of the Whispering Woods.  The stormcrow fluffed it's feathers as it sat and waited patiently.  Any moment now...

A few moments later a glowing orange light traced it's way on the ground toward the stormcrow.  Behind the flames walked an exhausted and scared looking dark elf female... and behind her... a large group of nightmare creatures waiting to get her, should she leave the protection of the light.

"Caaw CAWW!"  said the stormcrow, attempting to get itself noticed.  "Caww Caww Cawwww!"

Ravvyn squinted to see past the bright flames.  Some sort of bird was perched in a tree and squawking at her.  Ravvyn was exhausted so when the crow's wings flashed with lightning she passed it off as a hallucination.  Until the bird flew to the ground by the light trail.  The trail stopped and held it's place, burning brighter than before.  Ravvyn stood, axes at the ready, checking all around her for the beasts that were following her while trying to keep a wary eye on the stormcrow.

The crow took a few steps toward Ravvyn, turning it's head to look at her and study her.  It stopped a few feet away then it started to flash and crackle with lightning. Storm clouds spread out from it's jet blueish-black feathers.  Then a storm enveloped the crow and expanded upward.  When the storm ended seconds later, there stood a night elf woman of remarkable beauty.  She wore robes of blueish-black feathers that crackled with lightning and a purple and blue cloak.  Her shoulders had more crackling feathers.  To Ravvyn she looked like a light being called an angel.  Her hair was pure white, just like ravvyn's, but very long and shiny.  Feathers and beautiful leaves wove through her hair.

The night elf smiled kindly and spoke, "Do not be alarmed." she said in a melodic, smooth voice.  "My name is Joliset and I am here to help you."

Ravvyn just stared suspiciously.  Beasts growled, hissed and scratched around them. A few fights were breaking out among the creatures, as they competed for the closest spots to the prey, in the shadows.

"Rennoewen and Cazora have sent me here to help you Ravvyn.  I am from the guild." Joliset gracefully waved her arms.  Leaves began to swirl around and the ground around them began to glow a luminescent green. Ravvyn instantly felt amazing! She was feeling well rested, strong and the healthiest she had ever felt.  Her eyes widened and she looked at Joliset who smiled kindly and continued to wave her arms and cast spells.  A storm began to brew. Dark roiling clouds formed at the edges of the light and thunder bellowed loudly as lightning snaked through the blackest clouds.  Wind howled and hail pelted outward, striking the creatures in waiting.  Several ran away frightened.  Others were pelted with fist sized hail chunks.  You could hear screeching and yelping.  The winds blew so strongly that the trees began to bend and bow. Joliset released the storm and it pushed outward knocking all of the creatures away.  Then Joliset was covered in the crackling clouds again, disappearing into them.  Then there stood a pure white deer in the spot where Joliset was moments before.  "Hop on my back Ravvyn! Let's get out of here before those hungry things recover!" the deer said in Joliset's voice.

Ravvyn didn't hesitate, she lept onto the deer's back and held onto the fur.  The flame trail started moving much faster this time.  The deer began sprinting and leaping after it quickly.  Joliset the deer leaped gracefully through all of the obstacles as it followed the trail of flame.  Ravvyn was grinning so widely.  Actually... that was the first time Ravvyn had ever smiled in her life.  Her heart was leaping with excitement and joy.  What other new and wondrous things would she find out there in the world?!  She was looking forward to exploring and finding out.

Crimson Revenge... Payback in Blood. Part 2

Rennoewen stood at the edge of the forest.  Her long, curling locks glowing in the sunlight in hues of orange, gold, and red. Her intricate mage robes rustled softly in the breeze.  Her fair skin and glowing, green eyes reflected back the light and twinkled.

"She is almost here..." she whispered more to herself than anyone else. Setting her ebony staff firmly into the soil, she began to utter the spell.  As she spoke, her staff caught on fire and made a trail on the ground into the woods.  The trail faded off into the darkness as she finished her spell.

Rennoewen turned around and smiled at Cazora, who smirked, but then, a smirk was the only smile she ever gave.  "When will the drow get here?" Cazora asked as she slung her bow over her shoulder and reached down to scratch... seemingly, the air.  A deep purr emanated from where her hand was when a large leopard appeared, shimmering, next to Cazora.  He slowly blinked his glowing cyan eyes and yawned, revealing his glowing mouth of the same color.  Saberhagen was a spirit cat and able to slip into another dimension, disappearing and reappearing at will.

"A few days... give or take.  It is a dangerous place and we don't know exactly how skilled she is," Rennoewen replied as she pulled up the hood on her red cloak.  Cazora nodded.  As Rennoewen and Cazora turned to leave, Saberhagen shimmered and disappeared.  They made their way back to camp to await their new recruit.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Ravvyn was resting in a gnarly old tree.  This tree had seen thousands of years in this forest and it had likely seen at least a few hundred before the curse.  The time when the High elves lived here with their elaborate and beautiful buildings.  Instead of their glorious songs and music, there was now just the haunted whispers of trapped souls, howling, screams and other frightening sounds.  Being a Drow and living in caves and tunnels, she was used to pitch blackness, but sounds out here in the forest did not echo as they did in the Drow caves.  Ravvyn sat, unmoving. Listening.  She was excited to see what the world would be outside of this place... and also anxious.  She began to ponder if she was too far removed from her High Elf ancestors.  What if the sun blinded her forever and she never adjusted?  She feared the openness she would discover when there was no earth, fog and trees surrounding her.

Too absorbed in her own thoughts, she didn't notice that she was being watched.

Several large black spiders, the size of large dogs, began to descend on their silken threads to dangle over their prey.  These were not the cave spiders that the Drow were friendly with.  No, these were forest spiders... wild and hungry.  Their fangs dripped with anticipation and poison.  Hundreds of smaller spiders, ranging from pebble to hand-sized, scurried toward Ravvyn in the dark.  Suddenly, the forest began to glow orange.  Then a trail of the brightest light she had ever seen made it's way to the tree.  The spiders hissed and screeched in pain as the light burned their many eyes.  They scurried away into the darkness.

Gasping at the sudden movements and the bright light, Ravvyn stood and covered her lavender eyes as the fire lit up her world for the first time in her entire life.  Drows always used pink magic light from faerie fire to light their caverns and it was very dim.  Ravvyn blinked several times, tears falling from her eyes as the trail stopped in front of her and then slowly began to make it's way back the way it had come.  Her eyes felt a painful spasm and then she was no longer seeing in ultra violet.  Everything around her became very dark and the fire glowed without hurting her eyes nearly as much.  She blinked away the tears in disbelief, then began to follow the trail when it was moving on without her.  She followed it, excitedly.

Crimson Revenge... Payback in Blood. Part 1

The moon would not brighten the sky this evening. Nor would it ever.  The dense fog and thick tangle of flora made it too dark for any but nocturnal creatures to see where they were going in the permanent darkness of this place. Even nocturnal creatures couldn't see much with the fog.

These were the infamously cursed woods of Whispering Wind. There were many a terrible story about these woods... and probably all of them were true. Travelers did not dare to venture in and those that did, never made it back out.  She was not a traveler here. She was an inhabitant.

A cloaked figure, gracefully and silently, made it's way through the woods. Pausing for a moment, Ravvyn sniffed the air and twitched her pointed ears.

As she was about to continue on, a twig snapped behind her. Turning her head and narrowing her glowing lavender eyes, she realized she was not alone. Ravvyn the drow elf disappeared behind a tree in a blink. Two razer sharp hatchets appeared in each of her hands. Already having been dipped in deadly poison, they gave off a faint green tinge to her ultraviolet vision.

A large werewolf came to the spot where Ravvyn had paused moments ago and sniffed the air as one might smell delicious baked goods. His fanged mouth salivating heavily, his glowing red eyes searched for his tasty treat. He loved the flavor of drows.

Suddenly there was the slightest rustle behind a tree nearby. The werewolf grinned and swiftly lunged, growling while digging his claws and fangs... into the tree.  Ravvyn rolled forward from her hiding spot, coming to kneel on bent knee behind the werewolf. Inhumanly fast, she sliced through the achilles heels, crossing the axes in front of her. Fluidly, she turned the blades inward to cut through both werewolf kidneys as she uncrossed the hatchets. She rolled backward back into her hiding spot and stood to watch her handy work.

The blades were so sharp the werewolf had only just realized he had been attacked. He howled in agony, falling to the ground and clutching at his sides. After a few seconds his hands fell limply, not because he was dead, but because he was paralyzed by poison. Ravvyn stood over his body, gazing at the werewolf expressionlessly. The werewolf could not make any sounds as the poison took hold. His lungs no longer worked. The last thing he saw was Ravvyn, the drow elf, staring back at him. She bent down and whispered to him,"Usstan sut dos dal dosst cha'kohk, ze'zhuanth uss.", wiping the blood off her hatchet with his chest fur, but he didn't recognize the words. As the poison took hold and stopped his lungs and heart, his confused brain was unable to fathom the situation. The werewolf crossed the plane to join his ancestors in death. Ravvyn pulled back her hood, kneeling by the body. She lowered the werewolf's eyelids for him. Staring at his face she furrowed her brow for a moment. Replacing her hood she stood and being rather strong, it was easy for Ravvyn to drag the body to the thick brush and hide it underneath. She then used a branch to quickly remove the footprints, drag marks, and body imprint from the ground and then continued on her way.

The Road Much Traveled, But Usually In Silence.

Hello, my friend.

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged. It's not that I lack things to write about.  I have many things that usually come to me while I should be falling asleep and then forget in the morning.  Then I have no time during the day because... have you tried writing and concentrating while a 3 yo hobgoblin runs around wreaking havoc and blathering and grabbing at you all day??  I love my son very much, but he requires a lot of my attention and he is the most important thing to me.  He is coloring contently right now.  Quick!  Write!

So, I started taking medication again for my chronic severe depression and my anxiety disorder.  With no one to watch Alex for me, a therapist won't work for me right now.  I'm fine with that and so is my doctor.  So far it has been a great improvement, but I still have ups and downs.  Thankfully they aren't nearly so high and low as before.  It's still a struggle every day.  I forget how to human sometimes.  So I've started writing lists of things I'd like to accomplish each week and that seems to help.

I get out several times each week.  I enjoy taking my son to the library where I let him check out several books and movies for the week.  I read to him a story each night.  He really loves it and so do I.  :)  We also do the grocery shopping for the week every Friday.  Now that it's getting chilly outside, trips to the park aren't as often.  But we go for walks and he plays on the playground when we do go.

Even though my anxiety is as bad as it's ever been, I still put myself out there.  When everything in my body tells me to run away or freeze in a crowd.  I really try to keep going, to stay there in the present.  Sometimes I can.  Sometimes I can't.  When I can't, I feel like a huge failure and a burden on my family.  My husband is my rock though.  He can see when I begin to freak out.  He knows how to comfort me and ground me.  He holds my hands, helps me breath, stares into my eyes and I into his and I feel like I am ok again.  I really don't think I could live life without him.  I'd be a hermit somewhere in the mountains.  The kind where children tell stories of the witch of the mountains....

Anyway, I seem stuck.  I haven't been inspired to paint anything.  I haven't been inspired to craft anything.  I feel... empty.  Lost.  Nothing really excites me much.  There's nothing I really want in the world.  Nothing I want to do.  It just seems weird for me.  I've always been a creator.  Right now I am a nothing.

My birthday happened several days ago, and as always, I cried.  I hate my birthday.  Why?  Because my family always used to forget it.  Even my now ex husband would forget it.  I don't get birthday cards from anyone except from my husband. Of course his cards are very special.  My birthday is almost always devoid of joy.  And more times than not, spent alone.

I drink a lot of coffee.  I smoke a lot of cigarettes.  I'm up to 5-6 a day.  I know they are horrible. I know they stink.  I know they push people away and yet, they calm me and make me feel better when all the world seems to be passing by.  Do I want to quit?  Yes.  And No.  I am an addict... the answer is no.  I always want to feel better and as an addict, I hide my problem from the world.  I buy my and consume my habit in private.  I tell the doctors I don't smoke and never have.  We addicts keep it to ourselves because we know people will try to make us stop and secretly... part of us doesn't want to.

I am looking forward to Halloween.  We are taking our son trick or treating and it will be the first time I've dressed up for 15 years.  It should be fun.  I wish you all a safe and pleasant Halloween.

The Battle

Hello my friend.

I have battled with depression most of my life. It's something that happen to my brain as I was developing. Most likely the abuse I suffered. It changed how my brain works... or made it so it doesn't work as it should. A normal brain has receptors that accept serotonin and those hormones that allow you to feel happiness and pleasure. My receptors get clogged and therefore stop me from feeling anything other than sadness or nothing at all during moments one should be. Add my anxiety disorder in there and all I feel is like an animal in a cage.

I recently got help. I went to my doctor and spoke with him. It's not the easiest thing to do, be it because of fear or pride or just sheer stubbornness. It is, however, necessary if you ever want to get better. We can't do everything ourselves. So, I am back on medication.

Today is day 3 of being back on my depression and anxiety medication and I see and feel a great difference. It feels like fog is lifting. I guess the best way I can describe it as when you lay on your arm and cut off the circulation, your arm falls asleep. It feels like my entire being was asleep and I'm just coming out of it. I see colors brightly again. I get a trance like pleasure when listening to music. I feel things again! You don't realize how deep you are in the pit until you're out of it.

If you feel helpless, lonely, sad, hopeless, you may have depression. Please, get help. Things DO get better. You CAN be your happy, fun loving self again. Getting help is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength to be able to accept sometimes you can't do it all alone.

I will keep blogging my experiences. I hope it will help others who also suffer from mental illness. You are not alone. Your illness is valid. It gets better.

Labels

Hello, my friend.

This blog makes me feel like I have a waterslide for my words to slide down.  It's easier and more fun than I expected!  Facebook, while it is a great place to share recipes and see pictures of your friend's kids, it's not really a great place to share your thoughts.  It seems like everyone is so angry that you may have a different point of view on something.  If we all had the same point of view, we would still believe the world is flat.  Some people still believe it is flat, but don't get me started on that.  Maybe on a different post.

Today is about labels.  The labels we stick on ourselves or other people and place them in the corresponding "group".  Here are some labels people like to plaster on others:

Vegan
Meat Eater
Goth
Tattooed person
Christian
Pagan
Troll
Druggy
Hippie
Fake
Man
Woman
Gay
Pansexual
Bisexual
this list could go on forever...

Why do we have to label things?  Is it the OCD in all of us?  Do we like to organize so much that we even organize our people?  Is it more of an us vs. them thing?  Maybe it's so we can judge people based on their labels?  Is it a way to foster community between people who share the same labels as you?

*sigh*  For some reason the labeling is getting to me.  We separate ourselves in so many ways already.  Do we really need to divide ourselves on these made up labels?  I'm not saying that the idea behind the label isn't real.  I am pansexual, tattooed and vegan myself.  Do I want to only know and be around other pansexual, tattooed, vegans?  No.  I want to be around any kind of person that is kind.  I don't care how smart they are, how rich, how popular they are.  If they are kind to me, I want to be their friend.  That being said, I pretty much left the "vegan" community.  And by leaving, I mean I ripped off the label even though it still fits me.  Why?  Because there were so many nitpicking, narcissistic jerks in those groups.  They will pick apart anything that isn't their idea of perfect.  "Your food isn't vegan enough." they say. "Your food is still unhealthy." they blather. "You're fat and giving the vegan community a bad image." they laugh.  Oh, my bad.  I thought being vegan was about things beyond yourself. My bad.  (not sorry) Seriously, go fuck yourself if you use veganism, or any other label, to make yourself feel superior to other humans.

I am what I am, but I don't like running around with the label tattooed on my forehead.  I will just be me and you can label your movies and books... you know, things that should be labeled instead of human beings.

All you good hearted people, you're my tribe.  No labels needed.
